Screen Actors Guild Awards 2017
What Are The Screen Actors Guild Awards?
The Screen Actors Guild Awards are awards presented annually to individuals for outstanding work in the film and television industries. The awards debuted in 1995 and have since become one of the most prized honours within the industry. Each year, thirteen awards are presented for actors who have excelled in their roles in either film or television. The awards take both the individual and entire ensemble into account. This is highly important as collaboration is fundamental to the art of acting.
In a similar fashion, the Screen Actors Guild Awards also acknowledge the outstanding work of film and television stunt performers and ensembles. These awards are announced during pre-show webcasts on the Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet. Another highlight of the Screen Actors Guild Awards is the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award. This is presented to an established individual for fostering the ultimate ideals of the profession.
2017 will mark the 23rd annual rendition of the Screen Actors Guild Awards. The awards will be held on the 29th of January. The Screen Actors Guild represents more than 160 000 actors, journalists, performers, recording artists, singers and other professionals within the film and television industries.
