Known as the “Grand slam of the Asia/Pacific” it was also the first Grand Slam tournament to feature indoor play during extreme weather conditions. Women’s singles winners are presented with the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup and men’s singles winners the Norman Brookes Challenge Cup which stands at over 40 cm tall.
